The 2nd Annual "Band Stand" concert fundraiser for local school music programs will be held October 13th, from 2pm-8pm, at the Sonora Opera Hall.
The event will feature live music by local and regional bands, along with food, drinks, and a silent auction. Opening the event at 2pm will be the Curtis Creek Mustang Band, led by Mic Harper and the Soulsbyville Elementary Band, let by Kyle Dooley.
Sourdough Slim, the accordion playing, yodeling, tongue-in-cheek, cowboy-dressed entertainer deluxe will be returning to Sonora to support this great cause. Local favorites Faux Renwah, comprised of Cactus Bob, Prairie Flower, and Michael P. Kennedy, will also join in the fun.
Murphys based The Risky Biscuits, who have been achieving regional acclaim for their eclectic mix of Americana, bluegrass, rock, soul and country, will be joining the fun with local favorites Lucky CuZn Brass Band, Columbia Soul, and Los Lonely Coyotes.
Band Stand is a presentation of Rock-In-Road, the non-profit fundraising partner of the Strawberry Music Festival. The committee was formed in 2016 with the aim to help local elementary and high schools with their music programs including instrument donation and repair, and providing funding for new instruments and supplies. The first fundraiser, in 2017, raised over $10,000 for local schools.
